Definitions:
Speed: Distance traveled in unit of time
Frequency: Number of complete waves by second
Wavelenght: Distance between matching points of the wave
Longitudinal: Vibration parallel to direction of travel
Transverse: Vibration at right angle to direction of travel
Sound is basicaly a vibration of the molecules. Without a texture to travel sound cannot exist, thats why in the void of the space there are no sounds. It can travel by any object, but they travel specially fast in solid textures. Soud waves get quieter at the same time they advance in distance because the wave gets larger and the energy that produces it decreases.
